Khor Virap is located about 40 minutes by car from the center of Yerevan, where I live. It's usually a nice place to go to ; sometimes the mountain you can't see it, because of the clouds.

The border with Turkey is right there behind the monastery. This used to be the Soviet's border with the West.

I read Movsep Khorenatsi's "HISTORY" of the Armenians -- it was written in the sixth or ninth or tenth century -- nobody knows -- and Movsep writes : A man, wearing a good belt, will need three days to circle the mountain (Ararat.)
